Why it works on the ice
Most off-ice training builds strength that never fully transfers to your skating. Roket Gear adds resistance while you skate, so you train the exact movement you use in a game: your stride, your crossovers, your edge work. Tested at the University of Calgary, the added load doesn't change your knee and hip angles or your speed, so you build power without building bad habits.
How to train with it
Start light. Use about half the default weight for the first two weeks, just enough to barely notice it. Then add a little more every 2 to 3 weeks once it feels easy. Small, steady steps build strength faster than piling on weight. Take the gear off before games.

How it works

Strap in, load up, and train the exact movement the game demands, right on the ice.

Patented fitted Roket Gear shell over shin pads 01

The fitted shell

A patented shell fits over your shin pads and locks in place, no sliding or bounce while you skate.

Roket Gear pocket design with steel weights 02

The weights

Slide ¼ lb steel bars into the pockets and place the load exactly where you want it.

Skater training in Roket Gear 3S mode 03

3S training mode

Build strength, speed and stamina at once, while you skate your real drills.

Backed by science

Tested at the University of Calgary Human Performance Lab

Independent testing measured skaters moving with added load per leg on forward and backward skating and crossovers. The resistance did not alter their natural skating stride: knee and hip angles held steady, and skaters kept their speed. You train the exact mechanics the game demands, under load, without building bad habits.

Built to make you better on the ice

Hockey player training in Roket Gear

Conquer training plateaus

Add load right where you skate. Break through the ceiling your on-ice drills hit months ago.

Functional by design

Resistance that follows your stride instead of fighting it. Train the exact way you play the game.

Injury recovery

Rebuild conditioning gradually. Add a quarter pound at a time and ramp your skating legs back to game shape on your own timeline.

Built to adjust

Custom stainless steel weights from ¼ lb up. Reposition them in seconds for the session in front of you.

Frequently asked questions

Will the added weight change my skating?
No, and that's the whole point. Independent testing at the University of Calgary showed your skating stride and your knee and hip angles stay unchanged under load. You train your real movement on the ice, just heavier.
How much weight should I start with?
Start with about half the default weight for your size, for the first two weeks, just enough that you barely notice it. Your body adapts before you add more.
How do I progress over time?
Add a little more weight every 2 to 3 weeks, once the current load feels easy. Small, steady increases build strength and speed faster than piling on weight all at once.
Does it fit over my shin pads?
Yes. The patented shell is designed to fit over your shin pads and stay put while you skate. Pick your size from the guide near the top of this page based on your pad size.
How do I choose my size?
Use the size guide in the product details near the top of this page, based on your shin pad size. Leg shapes vary, so if you fall between two sizes, go up. The pocket system lets you fine-tune the fit.
Can I wear it during games?
Roket Gear is a training tool, meant for practice and drills. Take it off before games so you skate light and feel the difference all your training built.
How do I care for it?
Remove the weight bars, wipe the shell down after training, and let it air dry. Keeping it dry between sessions protects both the shell and the steel.
